Mushroom Coral

Delicate yet strong, mushroom corals are a wonder to look at. They are an unusual kind of coral in that most mushroom corals never attach to the reef.  At night, rather than the colony of thousands of polyps found in most corals, a single polyp will emerge from it. This particular type of mushroom coral is uncommon on reefs in hawaii, and only attains 1.5″ in maturity.
