Hīhīmanu – Spotted Eagle Rays
Spotted eaglerays are often seen swiftly gliding through the water in Hawaii. They have 2-6 venomous spines at the base of their tails, and while described as solo beings, in Hawaii we see them in groups >20 at a time. Often found feeding on sandy bottom shellfish, they search in the sand with their beak-like snout, sometimes pushing against their tail burrowed in the sand. Hihimanu have distinctive white spotted dark brown/black backs, and attain 8ft (w/o tail) Status: near threatened
The Petite Spotted Eagle Ray Necklace is a hand carved little spotted eagle ray gliding in the blue, modelled after the beautiful eagle rays we see in Hawaii. This little carving is cast in sterling silver, 18K vermeil on request.
