Sculptural Jewelry

Our inspiration comes from the sea and our own adventures underwater. We carve from first hand experiences watching, photographing and learning about wildlife. Being able to recall a feeling as well as a visual is a luxury and because we sculpt by hand rather than designing on a computer our carving has an organic and serendipitous element to it. (see some of our process here)

Embrace Slow

Slow Fashion. It’s not fast, clearly. Fast fashion, fast food, fast results. But fast is a lifestyle choice that doesn’t have time to consider its consequences. Choose Slow. Slow can be delicious. Slow can be luxurious. Slow can be arcane. Made the old way, slow jewelry produces sensual delights that last years, not a season.  Hawaii jewelry made to be coveted and passed along through generations.

Slow means buying less, for keeps, and only what you love. Loving it for an age, not a trend. Best of all, slow fashion defines character, style and a kindness to the sea.

Sustainable – Malama the Ocean

“We carry oceans inside of us, in our blood and our sweat. And we are crying the oceans, in our tears.” ― Gregory David Roberts

Malama the ocean – preserve & protect. At ‘Alohi Kai we make decisions with the ocean’s well-being at heart. We work hard to find sustainable processes, materials, & packaging.  We leave sand & shells for wildlife, not making jewelry, and use reclaimed metals as much as we can.

To us, the ocean is life and beauty. A seduction. A tease. A delicious sigh. Leaving you wanting just a little more. The blue is our heart, so we care for it. And we share what we love with you because we want you to love the ocean too – people protect what they love.

The Blue

Why? They ask me. Why the sea?

And why not? It’s the color of magic and abyssal calm. It’s the sound of light, and the texture of peace. Leave shouting, tantrums, traffic at the surface as you submerge in its watery embrace. Give, take. Ebb, flow. Suspended, weightless. Your noise is wasted here. At depth there is quiet and escape.

Why not the sea?
