He'e - Octopus
In Hawaii, octopuses are variably called he'e (in Hawaiian, with a glottal stop between the two e's) and tako (in Japanese) and if we are lucky, we see them while diving. Deeply intelligent, they have multiple ways to defend themselves - black ink, camouflage, even squirting water. We enjoy their company on dives for both playfulness and inventiveness - even when very small these wonderful creatures will pull themselves up to size to intimidate a photographer!
About
We help ocean lovers express their watery souls, and raise awareness of endemic and endangered Hawaiian marine wildlife. We hand carve ocean jewelry from our own underwater photos and craft it in silver and gold. Wear your ocean!
