Sharks are flexible and strong – learn to pivot and adapt to new circumstances.
Sharks carry remoras – providing protection, transportation and even sustenance.
Supporting others, calling out prejudice and bullies, and bringing others along with you is the way of a shark. To ‘be a shark’ used to be a negative, it’s time to reclaim that name.

Niuhi – Tiger Sharks
In ‘olelo Hawaiian, both tiger sharks and great white sharks are niuhi, or ‘man-eating shark’. However both were revered as aumakua (family spirit guide or ancestor) rather than feared as man eaters. Tiger sharks sport beautiful stripes as younger sharks, but these fade as the shark gets bigger. Easily identifiable by their blunt noses, they are the only extant member of the genus Galeocerdo. Tiger sharks have a well-earned reputation as voracious hunters. Their distinctive serrated teeth and undiscerning palate mean they dine on everything from rays to turtles and even birds. They attain 5m but very large tigers grow to 8m. Generally found in tropical and temperate waters. Status: Near Threatened.
Blue Sharks
We adore blue sharks. Blues are a type of requiem shark that are oceanic, pelagic, and prefer the deep ocean in temperate and tropical waters. Beautiful and distinctive looking, they have long slender bodies and long pectoral fins, and are, as their name indicates, a lovely deep blue color. They grow up to 12 ft long, and are one of the fastest sharks in the sea; some estimate up to 60 miles per hour (97 kph). Blue sharks are thought to be the most frequently caught shark species. Targeted for their beautiful fins, studies show population declines of up to 80% in some regions since the 1980s. They are now classified as ‘near threatened’.
